Below is a current dyno overlayed against my old dyno.

dyno.jpg

The Ford Focus comes with a 130HP/135ft/lbs TQ DOHC 2.0L Zetec power plant. This power is rated to the flywheel, not the front wheels. I dynoed my stock focus at 104.3whp & 113ft/lbs TQ to the wheels.

Dyno Run 006: 126.2whp & 119ft/lbs tq Mods: FC TB, Iceman/Cool Flo Intake, AFX UDP, FC water pump pulley, Ford Racing Cam Gears, STR Fuel Rail, Crower Stage II Cams, Custom (Ghetto crushed bent 2.5in pipe) exhaust, FS Spark Plug Wires.

Dyno Run 007: 140whp & 128ft/lbs tq Everything listed above, but added Auto Double Platz spark plugs, Focussport Race Header, Focussport Flex Pipe, Bosal Cat Back exhaust...thats it..
Look at the major diff in the a/f ratio!!!these curves are really smooth and I am very happy! This is NO TUNING what so ever..just 3 base pulls with new exhaust mods.. I have NO chip, stock MAFS,NO headwork at all.. I will be adding an early bored/ported 2000 intake manifold and doing one run with it before tunning to see it the theory is right..and if it is I will be at about 145whp just by adding it..then I will add the pro-flow 70mmMAFS..make a dyno pull and see what that adds....

I will easily pass 150whp NA with NO headwork and NO chip...so come next year I will be ready for heavy head/tranny work..but 155whp will keep me excited untill then...

Over the course of this project I learned that the best upgrade you can do you your focus is a nice free flowing exhaust system. Here are some words of wisdom that I hope to inspire you with or help you decide a path to take in engine modification choices. If I had to do all my modifications over again I would do them in this order:

Intake, Exhaust, UDP(mainly because it free's up revs and is the best bang for the buck mod and its very cheap compared to other mods) Race Header, Flex Pipe, Throttle Body, Cam Gears & Cams at the sametime to keep labor costs down, and finally the very most IMPORTANT step of the entire process is to dyno tune!tune!tune! It would be wise to wait untill you have quite a bit of modifications done to your focus to dyno tune your cam gears because ALMOST everytime you add another bolt on you will have to dyno again to get the most out of the mod.
